Comments from the Breaking Down the Walls Retreat - February 29th-March 2nd, 2008

-You brought clarity, and likewise, freedom to my chaotic soul. You gave me a target, though still distant, to pursue in the fog. Thank you! Sincerely, thank you. To all the men who served us...I see the image of Christ in you! Thank you for making it so easy to not "do", so I could focus on the message...His voice.

-What I found is a connection of who I am, who I should be, and most importantly how to get there. The visuals & exercises are very impacting. I believe my life is truly on the change because of this weekend. This has been an excellent weekend.

-How has the weekend impacted me? It has brought me back to the cross. I loved the thought that the Christian life is not difficult. It is my reluctance to give up my walls that makes life difficult. The pace was great! The food was outstanding! Can't think of anything I would change.

-Excellent weekend. The speaker brought a new perspective, clarity, and understanding to the gospel. Even though this is my second time it is still very impactful and thought provoking. I am leaving stimulated.

-The fellowship with other men and seeing that we all have our own battles to fight gives me encouragement. The graciousness of our host and the servant attitude of the cooks and servers is very humbling.

-Obvious the food and the men who prepared it were both fantastic! But I already predicted that to be the case before I arrived here. The true surprise was how rich the ENTIRE WEEKEND was with love, sincerity, and truth. I appreciated everyone for taking risks and allowing me to do the same.

-This weekend has allowed me to see the things that have been holding me back both fleshly and spiritually. The illustrations and tasks were useful in helping me visualize my "walls" and how to remove them. The simple approach to following Christ has allowed me to forgive myself and start fresh. All of the other aspects regarding housing and food were wonderful. Thank you so much!

-God continues to amaze me. I went to Breaking Down the Walls for a second time not knowing what to expect, or maybe I should say having no expectations, and God showed up. Wow! He breathed new life into my parched soul...using "mere mortal" men. Thank you Jesus.

-Great leadership, humor and guidance. You have put things in terms I can understand. The food and fellowship topped it off.

-The second time around I understood much more of the text and relationship building with others. I was not skeptical, or waiting for the "hook" to come in as I was on my first Breaking Down the Walls. Receiving/giving blessings is always well received, a very strong part of the weekend - makes me humble and provides an opportunity to express my feelings to others in my small group. I especially liked the cooks and cleanup guys, they should get a salary increase.

-Great weekend. Second time here and enjoyed the men and helps keep me on the right path to keep from building more walls. The speaker was very thorough and did a wonderful job in his teachings.

-This weekend has been one of the most timely, important and clear, [with] honest talk that I have ever experienced. The timing is more than I could have hoped for. There was clarity, fellowship, straight talk, openness and community. The only regret is it didn't go longer. Perfect otherwise and so grateful. Thank you.

-I like how I had an opportunity to practice what we were learning in our free time.

-Facilities-good. Food-good. Teaching-Good. Fellowship-Good.
